Tesco’s opening hours during the festive season will differ depending on the location, with all stores and petrol stations remaining closed on Christmas Day.
Tesco Extras and Superstores will operate from 9am to 7pm on Christmas Eve.
On Boxing Day, Extras and Superstores will be open from 9am to 6pm, while most Express stores will trade from 9am to 7pm.
Normal opening hours will resume across Tesco stores between 27th and 30th December.
On New Year’s Eve, Extras and Superstores will open from 5am to 7pm, and local stores will trade from 6am to 10pm.
For New Year’s Day, Superstores will operate from 8am to 6pm, with most Express stores open from 8am to 10pm, although larger Express locations may close earlier.

Visited the Mobile shop in Tesco Pitsea this morning, 16th January. I had experienced difficulty in installing a new Sim to phone Australia more cheaply. From the moment I arrived, my problems were over. I was served by Mark, a young and patient employee, who listened carefully to my situation and then set about finding a remedy. As I was not really able to assist Mark, due to my ignorance of the world of mobile phones, he began to diagnose the difficulties and then set about finding a solution. This took quite a time, but Mark was kindness itself, reassuring me that he could solve the issue and waiting quietly while he contacted various agencies. When a new International Calling Card was purchased, Mark installed it himself, in case I found this too complex at home. From start to finish, Mark proved to be a model employee, kind, helpful and patient, with a total command of his area of expertise. Thank you Mark and thank you Tesco!
