Over 325 excited shoppers queued outside the newly opened Aldi store in New Oscott this morning hoping to be one of the lucky 100 to get their hands on a ‘golden ticket’.
To celebrate the opening of the store on Chester Road, golden envelopes containing a special ticket to win prizes including 40” HD Ready TVs, HD Action Camcorders, Sat Navs and much more, were handed out to the first 100 people in the queue. Natalia Szczyptcowska and Carol Martin each took home the star prizes of 40” TVs, with many others walking away with great store products.
As part of its engagement with the local community, Aldi invited the local scout group to officially open the new store. The scouts will be in-store again over the next month to raise more money for their summer activities.
Aldi has created 40 new jobs for the local community and the New Oscott store is one of many that the retailer has opened in the West Midlands this year. A new store in Wolverhampton opened last week and also provided 40 new jobs for the community.
Aldi prides itself on locally sourced produce found throughout the store, where shoppers can expect an extensive range of high quality, fresh food. Aldi’s New Oscott store will be served with an extensive range of 1,350 product lines at affordable prices.
Aldi Store Manager Josh Wooding commented: “My team and I greatly enjoyed welcoming our new customers into the store, and we were delighted with how many people turned out early this morning to be in with a chance to win our ‘golden ticket’ top prizes.
“We were very pleased to be able to offer the scouts space within our store to assist with their fundraising activity.”
