I get so put off going to Aldi as I always feel rushed at the checkout! They whizz the items through and ask for your money when you still have about 20 items piled up in the tiny bag packing area! Bad customer service (although the staff themselves are polite) and bad layout design....other than that, I'm a Aldi fan and would go as my main shop if they thought about the checkout experience a bit more...

The fresh fruit and vegetable quality is good (& I saved a lot of money buying from the offers). The aisles are not clearly marked for the location of produce and the check out is a nightmare as there is nowhere to pack when the shopping is being priced through. I asked my check-out person where I should pack and she pointed to a shelf at the front of the shop (not cool for the elderly or disabled). They shoot the produce through and it heaps up in a pile on the tiny area next to the till. Being without the designated area definitely made me pack much more slowly. Aldi is exactly what I expected - a clinical experience in a basic building but the savings are really great and the produce easily matches (or excels) that of other local supermarkets which is the main thing.
